Principal's Message

May 2008

Dear Hale Parents/Guardians,

I cannot believe that we are already in May. The China exchange is behind me and we are preparing for MCAS and the final days of this school year. I hope to share with staff and students the “China Experience” before the school year comes to a close.

MCAS Calendar
Not every day will be used for testing at each grade level. Several days are set aside for any make-up testing that is needed. (Due to any unexpected conflicts, these dates may be adjusted within the testing period.)

May-June MCAS Testing Period
: May 12 - May 28
All testing sessions begin at 8:00am

Wednesday, May 14 – Grade 8
Thursday, May 15 – Grade 7
Friday, May 15 – Grade 6
Monday, May 19 – Grade 8
Tuesday, May 20 – Grade 7
Wednesday, May 21 – Grades 6 & 8
Thursday, May 22 – Grades 7 & 8
Tuesday, May 27 – Grade 7

Advisory Update
Topics for recent and upcoming Advisory sessions are “”Transition” and “Celebration”. For the remaining of the school year students will be focused on transitioning to the next grade. Grades 6 and 7 will meet with the next grade level students and teachers. They will have a question and answer period. Students will also reflect on their transition to their present grade and have the opportunity to brainstorm on what to additionally offer/explain to the incoming grade.

Spring is here!
With the advent of better weather comes the reminder to uphold our school dress code. Please review with your child the dress code found on page 14 of the Hale Student & Parent Guide. If students come to school in inappropriate attire, they will not be allowed to class without a change to appropriate clothing.

Coffee and Chat
The final “Coffee and Chat” for this school year is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14th @6:30pm in the Hale library. It will be held in conjunction with the Parent Support Group meeting.

I have enjoyed meeting with many of you and discussing “life” at the Hale Middle School. I thank you for the invaluable information and conversation we have shared during the school year.

As always, if you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Margaret
